Great week for United supporters

Wohooo, first it was the triumph and sweet revenge against Benfica and then the derby nine point winner last night. Things are looking good for United fans, we are nine points clear and Chelsea have yet to play a game in the Premier League since their match with Newcastle was postponed last week. We have to bear in mind, Chelsea after the home game against Arsenal, the Blues will have a game in hand. But who cares!! We are 9 points clear at the top. This season is a cracker, United is finally finding its form and winning the important matches. If United is keeping this form then it'll be hard for Chelsea to close the 9 point gap. I think it is not bad at all after the Glazer takeover. When the Glazers bought the majority United shares, everyone predicted a gloomy day for United. Most argued United would be thrown in debt. However there is only slight effect, thats the finance especially signing big names. The transfer kitty at pre-season can't be compared with Chelsea. We can't afford what Chelsea have done for the last two seasons. Tonight as I'm typing this post, I will be supporting Arsenal for the whole 90 mins ONLY. Come next year, I expect arrival of new players and consistent good form winning the crucial games.

Middlesborough 1 - Man Utd 2

Another 3 points bagged this week after the home win against Everton in the midweek. I didnt watch this match properly, I was too tired and felt asleep till the half time. Midfield was solid, it should've been 4-1 to United, had it not been for missed chances, notably from Giggs who was one on one with the Boro keeper. Next match is off to Champions League against Benfica. A repeat of last season encounter would put United into a third failure to qualify for the next round.

Swede Legend Joining United

Henrik Larsson is coming to Old Trafford on loan for 3 month in January. The former Celtic and Barcelona, 35 year old striker would be a good short term option as a stop-gap whenever the present current United's strikers, Rooney, Saha and Solskjaer are out of action. Hope United will not stop looking at the transfer market. Sir Alex Ferguson has plans to sign younger players such as Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres, the Englishman, Owen Hargreaves at Bayern Munich and Freddy Adu from the States. This is not the first time, United has gone signing retiring, over 30 players the likes of Andy Goram from Rangers, French 98 World Cup winner, Laurent Blanc, current no.1 keeper, Van Der Sar. I would welcome this move as Henrik Larsson is a proven and prolific scorer in both league and international careers. He had won the UEFA Golden Shoe for notching 50 goals in a season. His total goals throughout his career at Celtic topped over 250 goals. Its not a bad move and I will have to see Larsson plays and scores regularly to make this as one of the bargain signing of the season.

Latest updates: SAF won't be signing any strikers after this move. Thats a disappointment for me and it sounds like United do not have the cash to splash on any new signings.

Man Utd 3 - Everton 0

A comfortable 3-0 win against the Everton, bagging that crucial 3 points and stay at the top spot. I didn't know there were matches played last night, I thought these matches were in the weekends. Chelsea also won their match with one goal only at the match away at Bolton. Next matches should be crucial as well, as Man Utd is playing against the likes of their derby counterpart Man City and Middlesborough, who both inflicted defeat at Man Utd last season. To win the premiership crown is to win all these important matches, it would have been a different story if Man Utd won that encounter with Chelsea. Well, that is just plain, mad football.

Man Utd 1 - Chelsea 1

It was a hard fought battle in the midfield. Scholes and Carrick were controlling the midfield very well. Carrick deserved the Man of the Match, there was some good passes from him. He has shown his true worth in a United shirt. Another player should deserved Man of the Match is Cristiano Ronaldo, he was as usual wrecking havoc with the defence but sometime made useless runnings. Man Utd had the chance to lead the table with 6 points all the way to 70th minute when Carvalho's header made it sure the match was still levelled. That goal should have been saved. Van Der Sar could not get his hand on the ball, had not Saha was standing on his way guarding the right post, VDS could at least get a touch and prevent the goal. Its still 3 point lead at the top. I hope next match is a definite 3 point, again at home against Everton.

Celtic vs Man Utd

Magician Nakamura spoiled United qualifying celebration.

A magical free kick goal from Nakamura was enough to send United to the dressing room pondering on a possible third early exit from Champions League next round. It was a lacklustre performance from United, a reminiscence of the team who has been inconsistent for the past three seasons. What even worst was the missed penalty from Louis Saha, he won't have a good night sleep after that. To qualify for the next stage, United has to give all out attack against Benfica who was with a win last night, two points behind United. A draw would be enough to secure the second spot but anything can happen and Benfica had proved it last year against United.
